The Oath, the Seal, and the Mission

Have you really understood the promise you made when you said Jesus is Lord?

When we choose to follow Jesus, we are making a serious promise. We are saying we will turn away from our sins, trust in Him, and receive Him as our Lord and Savior. This is like becoming a citizen of God’s kingdom. Our water baptism is like signing our name to that promise. It is a sign that we belong to Him and that the Holy Spirit has sealed us.

As citizens of God’s kingdom, we receive amazing gifts—forgiveness of sins and life forever with Him. But we also receive a mission. We are called to be His ambassadors. That means we point people who are lost to Jesus, who freely offers this new life to all.

1. Have I truly repented and surrendered to Jesus, or have I only said the words?
2. Am I living with thankfulness for His forgiveness and eternal life?
3. Is my life helping others see Jesus and His free gift?
