Is your faith growing stronger, or is compromise quietly creeping in?
This is an important question to ask yourself. Faith does not stay the same. It is either growing or weakening. Faith in Jesus grows when we spend time hearing and reading His Word. When we listen to God’s Word and read it for ourselves, our hearts are strengthened. We begin to trust Him more. We understand His ways better. Our faith becomes firm and steady.
But if we stop hearing and reading His Word, our faith does not remain strong. It slowly becomes weak. When that happens, compromise can slip in. Compromise often starts small. It may not seem like a big deal at first. Yet over time, it opens the door for the flesh—our own selfish desires—to take control. Instead of being led by God’s truth, we begin to be led by feelings, habits, or outside pressure.
Faith needs to be fed. Just like our bodies need food every day, our faith needs God’s Word every day. Without it, we become spiritually tired and distracted. We may still say we believe, but our actions and choices might tell a different story. That is how compromise grows—quietly and slowly.
When our faith is alive and strong, something powerful happens. The living waters within us begin to flow out into the world. This means that the life of Jesus in us touches others. Our words, our choices, and our attitudes reflect Him. People can see His love and truth through us. Faith is not meant to stay hidden inside. It is meant to move and flow outward.
However, this kind of faith requires action. We must choose to remain in His flow. We cannot expect strong faith if we are not spending time with Him. We cannot expect living waters to flow if we have closed off the source. Staying in His flow means making daily choices to hear His Word, read it, and obey it. It means guarding our hearts against compromise and being honest about where we may be drifting.
Take time to reflect and pray about these questions:
1. Am I consistently hearing and reading His Word, or have I compromised?
2. Am I aware of the areas of compromise that are weakening my faith?
3. Is my faith active, or has it become stagnant?
These are not questions to make you feel guilty. They are meant to help you grow. God desires a faith in you that is strong, alive, and flowing. He wants you rooted in His Word and protected from compromise.
Today is a good day to check your heart. If you see areas where your faith has weakened, turn back to Him. Begin again with hearing and reading His Word. As you do, your faith will grow stronger. The living waters within you will begin to flow freely. Stay in His flow, and let your faith grow and shine.
