Fullness of Joy
Eli sat on the edge of his bed and stared at the glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling. They were supposed to make him feel happy at night. But tonight, they just looked like little plastic stickers.
He sighed.
That day at school, he had laughed with his friends, scored a goal at recess, and even earned a gold star on his spelling test. For a little while, he had felt bright inside—like fireworks. But now, lying in the quiet dark, the bright feeling was gone.
“Why doesn’t it last?” he whispered.
The next evening at church, Pastor read from the Bible:
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
