Jesus Teaches About Serving and Following Him

📖 Scripture

John 12:20–26 (International Children’s Bible (ICB))

There were some Greek people, too, who came to Jerusalem to worship at the Passover Feast. They went to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee. They said, “Sir, we want to meet Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew. Then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus said to them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to receive his glory. I tell you the truth, a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die before it can grow and produce much grain. If it never dies, it will never produce anything. The person who loves his life will give up true life. But the person who does not hold on to the life here on earth will have true life forever. Whoever serves me must follow me. My servants must be with me everywhere I am. My Father will give honor to anyone who serves me.”

🌟 Lessons

  • Some people came from far away just to meet Jesus — His message is for everyone.
  • Jesus used the picture of a seed to show that He would give His life so many could live.
  • Following Jesus means being willing to give up our own way for His way.
  • True life comes from serving Jesus, not from holding on to earthly things.
  • God the Father honors those who faithfully serve and follow Jesus.
