The Attributes of God
O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth below; You keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their heart. (1 Kings 8:23; 2 Chronicles 6:14) I know that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness, a God who relents from sending calamity. (Jonah 4:2)
Pause to reflect on these affirmations about the person, powers and perfection of God.
The Works of God
Every animal of the forest is Yours, and the cattle on a thousand hills, O God. You know every bird in the mountains, and everything that moves in the field is Yours. (Psalm 50:10-11) The heavens are Yours; the earth also is Yours; You founded the world and all its fullness. (Psalm 89: 11)
Take a moment to consider the greatness of God’s wonderful works.
My Relationship to God
Joy in You, my Lord, is my strength. (Nehemiah 8:10) Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere, O Lord Almighty. I would rather be a doorkeeper in Your house, my God,
than dwell in the tents of the wicked. For You, Lord God, are a sun and shield. You will give grace and glory; No good thing do You withhold from those who walk in integrity. O Lord of hosts, blessed are those who trust in You! (Psalm 84:10–12)
Pause to thank God for the relationship that you enjoy with Him in Jesus Christ.
The Character I Want to Cultivate
I will receive the words of wisdom and treasure her commands within me, Turning my ear to wisdom and applying my heart to understanding. If I cry for discernment and lift up my voice
for understanding, If I seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures, Then I will understand what it is to fear You, O Lord, And what it is to know You, O God. (Proverbs 2:1-5)
To fear You, O Lord, is the beginning of wisdom, and to know You, O Holy One, is understanding. (Proverbs 9: 10)
Take a moment to ask the Lord for the grace to grow in godly character.
My Relationship to Others
I will discipline my children while there is hope and not be a willing party to their death. (Proverbs 19: 18) The rod and reproof impart wisdom, but children left to themselves bring shame to their mother. (Proverbs 29: 15)
Pause to review your relationships with others and to commit them to the Lord.
