The Attributes of God
Where does wisdom come from?
Where does understanding dwell?
It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing and
concealed from the birds of the air.
Destruction and Death say, “Only a rumor of it has
reached our ears.” You understand its way, O God, and You know its place,
for You look to the ends of the earth and see
everything under the heavens. (Job 28:20–24)
Oh, the depth of the riches of Your wisdom and knowledge, O God! How unsearchable are Your judgments and Your ways past finding out! For who has known Your mind, O Lord? Or who has been Your counselor? Or who has first given to You, that You should repay? For from You and through You and to You are all things. To You be the glory forever! Amen. (Romans 11:33–36)
Pause to reflect on these affirmations about the person, powers and perfection of God.
The Works of God
O Christ, You were in the world, and the world was made through You, and the world did not know You. You came to Your own, but Your own did not receive You. (John 1:10–11)
The light has come into the world, but people loved darkness
rather than light because their deeds were evil. For those
who do evil hate the light and will not come into the light, for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But those who practice the truth come into the light, so that their deeds may be clearly seen as having been done through You, O God. (John 3:19–21)
Take a moment to consider the greatness of God’s wonderful works.
My Relationship to God
I want to love You, Lord my God, obey Your voice, and hold fast to You. For You are my life and the length of my days. (Deuteronomy 30:20)
I love You, O Lord, my strength.
You are my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, You are my rock, in whom I take refuge.
You are my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold.
I call upon You, Lord, for You are worthy of praise,
and I am saved from my enemies. (Psalm 18:1–3)
Pause to thank God for the relationship that you enjoy with Him in Jesus Christ.
The Character I Want to Cultivate
I will not steal, nor deal falsely, nor deceive others. (Leviticus 19:11)
I will not pervert justice or show partiality. I will not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous. (Deuteronomy 16:19)
Take a moment to ask the Lord for the grace to grow in godly character.
My Relationship To Others
Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam, so I will stop a quarrel before it breaks out. (Proverbs 17:14)
If it is possible, I will live at peace with all people, as far as it depends on me. (Romans 12:18)
Pause to review your relationships with others and to commit them to the Lord.
