The Attributes of God
You must be treated as holy by those who come near You, O Lord, and before all people You will be honored. (Leviticus 10:3)
You, O Lord of hosts, will be exalted in judgment; and You, the holy God, will show Yourself holy in righteousness. (Isaiah 5:16)
Pause to reflect on these affirmations about the person, powers and perfection of God.
The Works of God
Your eyes, O Lord, move to and fro throughout the whole earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to You. (2 Chronicles 16:9)
For those who revere Your name, O Lord Almighty, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And they will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. (Malachi 4:2)
Take a moment to consider the greatness of God’s wonderful works.
My Relationship to God
I will not let Your word depart from my mouth, O Lord, but I will meditate on it day and night, so that I may be careful to do all that is written in it; for then I will be prosperous, and I will act wisely. (Joshua 1:8)
I am committed to You, O God, and to the word of Your grace, which is able to build me up and give me an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. (Acts 20:32)
Pause to thank God for the relationship that you enjoy with Him in Jesus Christ.
The Character I Want to Cultivate
I shall not covet my neighbor’s house, my neighbor’s wife, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to my neighbor. (Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:21)
I will be on my guard against all covetousness, for my life does not consist in the abundance of my possessions. (Luke 12:15)
Take a moment to ask the Lord for the grace to grow in godly character.
My Relationship to Others
Wives should submit to their own husbands as to You, O Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as You, O Christ, also are the head of the church; and You are the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to You, so wives should be to their husbands in everything. (Ephesians 5:22–24)
Husbands should love their wives, just as You, O Christ, also loved the church and gave Yourself up for her that You might sanctify and cleanse her by the washing with water through the word, that You might present her to Yourself as a glorious church, without spot or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as You also do the church, for we are members of Your body. (Ephesians 5:25–30)
