Weekly Inspiration: The God Who Spoke It All

Scripture:
“Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.” — Jeremiah 32:17 (KJV)

Historical and Exegetical Context:
The book of Jeremiah records the prophet’s messages during a challenging period for Judah, as they faced invasion, exile, and inner turmoil. Jeremiah 32 focuses on God’s promise of restoration despite Judah’s dire circumstances under Babylonian siege. In the middle of this crisis, God instructs Jeremiah to buy a field in Anathoth, symbolizing hope and a future return to the land. In response, Jeremiah acknowledges God’s limitless power, saying, “There is nothing too hard for thee.” This statement illustrates the prophet’s trust that God’s authority over creation ensures His power to fulfill promises, even in impossible situations.

Hebrew Word Insight:
The Hebrew word for “hard” in “nothing too hard for thee” is פָּלָא (pala’), meaning “extraordinary” or “beyond human ability.” This word emphasizes God’s unmatched power to do what is beyond human capacity. Another key term, “made” (עָשָׂה, asah), means “to accomplish” or “to shape intentionally.” This term reflects God’s intentional, purposeful creation, emphasizing that every element of the universe is under His command and care.

Reflection:
When we consider the vastness of our universe, we can feel easily overwhelmed. The Earth, the sun, and the planets in our solar system alone make us understand how small we are in the grand design of creation. Beyond our solar system, we explore galaxies upon galaxies, marveling at wonders like planets made of diamonds, stars that could fit a million Earths, and wormholes that might take us to distant places. And yet, there is still so much more to learn, see, imagine, and wonder. The fact that we are loved by a God so vast, who simply created all that we see through the power of His spoken word, leaves us in awe of His greatness.

As breathtaking as oceans and beaches are, or as delightful as a bed of roses, we can feel God’s goodness in His creation. But when we think of God’s ability to meet the needs in our own lives, we often fall into disbelief, lacking faith and hope that He will come through mightily in our concerns. Here’s the simple truth: we are God’s chief creation, above all in the cosmos. The universe was designed with us in mind. God created everything we see and have yet to see, out of love for us; it is His gift.

If Jesus was willing to go to such lengths to create a universe for His people to enjoy, then why should we lack faith that He who spoke, “Let there be light,” would not also speak that same light over our lives? His plans for us are good, and His promises are Yes and Amen. Believe again, hope again, dream again, laugh again, and pursue again. For the One who began a good work in our lives will carry it to completion, as long as we do not lose faith.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, You spoke, and it was so. Your words are always true. You are the same God who spoke the world, the universe, and us into existence—and here we are. Lord Jesus, we thank You that we can trust in Your word, and we pray for increased faith to know and believe that Your word has already been sent, and provision is already on its way. Help us in our unbelief, for it is by our faith in You that we will receive all that You have for us. We love You, Lord. It’s in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Action Step:
Today, take time to reflect on God’s creation around you—the sky, the trees, the people—and remember that this same God cares for your needs. When you feel doubt or worry, repeat Jeremiah 32:17 and remind yourself that nothing is too hard for God.

The Lord says,  “When you feel a rope attached to your leg, come to Me first. Wrestling on your own will only tighten the grip and burn your leg. Never once have I left you alone to fend for yourself. Even when you walk off on your own, I still be at the ready to save the prodigal from full destruction. Did you forget that I live inside of you? If I created you, would I not care the most about what happens to you? Forget the scale that man judges you by. I am not looking for unrealistic expectations. I will carry you even when you are unable to walk.

Forget about those who speak hatred and malice, even from familiar faces. You can’t help everyone see the light. Don’t let anyone rob your joy and happiness. Today is Bright and Tomorrow is even Brighter. What you believe is what you will see. The Sun is still shining even in the storm. Nothing stops the Sun from Shining! Remember to be the Salt and the Light for the world benefits as you walk as you were created to be. Trust that I have even your greatest battle within My Control. I will not fail you.”
