Prayer Reflection: #13

*The Attributes of God

You, Lord, do not see as people see. People look at my outward appearance, but You look at my heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)

Lord, You have searched me and You know me.

You know when I sit down and when I rise up;

You understand my thoughts from afar.

You scrutinize my path and my lying down and are

acquainted with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue, O Lord,

You know it completely. (Psalm 139:1–4)

*Pause to reflect on these affirmations about the person, powers and perfection of God.

*The Works of God

We praise You, Jesus, that God’s word is fulfilled in You: You will come forth a Shoot from the stump of Jesse; From his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on You—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord—and You will delight in the fear of the Lord. You will not judge by what You see with Your eyes, or decide by what You hear with Your ears, but with righteousness You will judge the poor and decide with fairness for the meek of the earth, and You will strike the earth with the rod of Your  mouth; with the breath of Your lips You will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be Your belt and faithfulness the sash around Your waist. (Isaiah 11:1–5)

Behold, a virgin was with child and gave birth to a son, and they called Your name Immanuel, which means, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)

*Take a moment to consider the greatness of God’s wonderful works.

*My Relationship to God

You, O Lord my God, want me to fear You, to walk in all Your ways, to love You and to serve You, O Lord my God, with all my heart and with all my soul. (Deuteronomy 10:12)

I want to know You, O God, and serve You with a whole heart and with a willing mind; for You search my heart and understand every motive behind my thoughts. (1 Chronicles 28:9)

*Pause to thank God for the relationship that you enjoy with *Him in Jesus Christ.

*The Character I Want to Cultivate

I know, my God, that You test my heart and are pleased with integrity. (1 Chronicles 29:17)

May those who hope in You not be ashamed

because of me, O Lord God of hosts.

May those who seek You not be dishonored

because of me, O God of Israel. (Psalm 69:6)

*Take a moment to ask the Lord for the grace to grow in godly character.

*My Relationship to Others

If I acknowledge You before others, Lord Jesus, You will also acknowledge me before Your Father in heaven. But if I deny You before others, You will also deny me before Your Father in heaven. (Matthew 10:32–33)

I will not be ashamed to testify about You, O Lord, but I will join with others in suffering for the gospel according to Your power, O God. (2 Timothy 1:8)

*Pause to review your relationships with others and to commit them to the Lord.
