Prayer Reflection: #11

*The Attributes of God

Your lovingkindness, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,

Your faithfulness to the skies.

Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains;

Your judgments are like the great deep.

O Lord, You preserve people and beasts.

How priceless is Your lovingkindness, O God!

Both the high and low among people find refuge in the

shadow of Your wings.

For with You is the fountain of life;

In Your light we see light. (Psalm 36:5–7, 9)

Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is great toward us,

and Your truth endures forever.

Praise the Lord! (Psalm 117:2)

*Pause to reflect on these affirmations about the person, powers and perfection of God.

*The Works of God

Your foolishness, O God, is wiser than human wisdom, and Your weakness is stronger than human strength. But You chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and You chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong; the lowly things of this world and the despised things You have chosen, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before You. (1 Corinthians 1:25, 27–29)

Lord, thank you for the invitation you extended to me when You said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If you hear My voice and open the door, I will come in to you and dine with you, and you with Me. To you who overcome, I will give the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Revelation 3:20–21)

*Take a moment to consider the greatness of God’s wonderful works.

*My Relationship to God

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me,

for in You my soul takes refuge.

I will take refuge in the shadow of Your wings

until destruction passes by.

I cry out to You, O God Most High, to You who fulfill

Your purpose for me. (Psalm 57:1–2)

This is what You, the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, have said: “In repentance and rest is your salvation; in quietness and trust is your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15)

*Pause to thank God for the relationship that you enjoy with Him in Jesus Christ.

The Character I Want to Cultivate You, O Lord, desire mercy, not sacrifice, and the knowledge of You more than burnt offerings. (Hosea 6:6)

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. (Matthew 5:7)

*Take a moment to ask the Lord for the grace to grow in godly character.

*My Relationship to Others

I will honor my father and my mother. (Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16)

The parents of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and those who beget a wise child will be glad. May my father and mother be glad; May she who gave me birth rejoice. (Proverbs 23:24–25)

*Pause to review your relationships with others and to commit them to the Lord.
