The Attributes of God
You, O Lord my God, You are God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome; You show no partiality and accept no bribes. You execute justice for the fatherless and the widow and love aliens, giving them food and clothing. (Deuteronomy 10:17–18)
As for You, O God, Your way is perfect;
Your word, O Lord, is proven.
You are a shield to all who take refuge in You.
For who is God besides You?
And who is the Rock except You, our God?
(Psalm 18:30-31)
Pause to reflect on these affirmations about the person, powers and perfection of God.
The Works of God
To us a child is born, to us a son is given,
and the government is on Your shoulders.
And You are called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of your government and peace there will be no end.
You reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it with justice and
righteousness from this time on and forever.
Your zeal, O Lord of hosts, will accomplish this.
(Isaiah 9:6-7)
You, Jesus, will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give You the throne of Your father David, and You will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and Your kingdom will never end. (Luke 1:32–33)
Take a moment to consider the greatness of God’s wonderful works.
My Relationship to God
O Lord, You are my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; O God, You are my rock; I will take refuge in You. You are my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge—my Savior; You save me from violence; I call on You, Lord; You are worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. (2 Samuel 22:2–4)
Who will bring a charge against those whom You have chosen, O God? You are the One who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ Jesus who died, who was furthermore raised to life, who is at Your right hand, O God, and is also interceding for me. (Romans 8:33–34)
Pause to thank God for the relationship that you enjoy with Him in Jesus Christ.
The Character I Want to Cultivate
To fear You, Lord, is wisdom;
And to depart from evil is understanding. (Job 28:28)
To fear You, Lord, is the beginning of wisdom;
All who practice Your commandments have good
understanding.
Your praise endures forever. (Psalm 111:10)
My Relationship to Others
I will stay away from foolish people,
for I will not find knowledge on their lips.
(Proverbs 14:7)
I will not make friends with hot-tempered people or associate with those easily angered, lest I learn their ways and set a snare for my soul.
(Proverbs 22:24–25)
Pause to review your relationships with others and to commit them to the Lord.
